Attract Clients Effortlessly with your Title Meta Tag
Imagine that your telephone rings. You pick it up and a voice on the other end says "I saw your website on the internet. I liked what I saw and I want to hire you."
Imagine that this happens quite frequently. Several times a month in fact.
Wouldn’t that be nice?
This is indeed possible if you learn to harness the power of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), namely the Title Meta Tag.
I am somewhat of a nerd when it comes to Search Engine Optimization (SEO). I've spent years learning what works and what doesn't. I’ve learned that the most important factor in SEO is the Title Meta Tag. I can assure you that this is so because as soon as I changed my Title Meta Tag years ago, my search engine traffic tripled and my phone starting ringing off the hook.
How do you find the Title Meta Tag?
You can view any site's Title Meta Tag by looking at the upper left hand corner of your computer monitor next to the little "e" when you have your internet browser open (if using Internet Explorer) while on a website of your choice. If you have my Web site home page open http://www.prosperitycoaching.biz you will see:
"Financial Advisor Coach | Marketing Coach | Business Coach | Scottsdale Phoenix Arizona" at the top left hand corner of your monitor.
Each page you visit has a Title Meta Tag. I suggest you make a game out of analyzing titles so that you understand the impact of using keywords in the Title Meta Tag.
I have noticed that many website designers will put the domain name or company name in the Title Meta Tag. This is a mistake. Potential clients don't know who you are so they won't search for your company name. Potential clients will use Key Words to find what they want on the internet.
Search engines use the contents of your Title Meta Tag as the descriptor in the organic or natural search engine results. Try this: go to www.google.com and enter "Business Coach Arizona", my site comes up fourth or so in the unpaid natural results. Wouldn't you like to be on page one without paying a cent???
I am ecstatic that I don't pay to be listed in the results for any of the key word phrases for which I am ranked on page one nationwide. This is what I call Effortless Marketing. Once you set it up, it works to bring clients to your front door and you do nothing.
What words should you put in your Title Meta Tag?
Keyword Research: Well, after you step into the shoes of your target client, you should do some keyword research. What words are prospects likely to enter into a search engine to find you? Imagine that you are new to town and need special services – what would you enter into a search engine?
I recently came across a really cool Web site: http://www.spacky.com/. Enter basic keywords and this site will give you a long list of related key words and the number of times they were entered into the major search engines in the last month. Use this site to create an internet strategy that draws business to you.
City and State: Don't forget to use your city and state in your title meta tag. People searching for your services will often add their city and state to find someone close by.
Company Name: If you must use your company name in your Title Meta Tag, do so at the end after a hyphen. Make sure the first three to four words are your key words. While clients who know you might do a search on your business name, most will do a search on your keywords, so you want to be known for the keywords associated with your industry.
Examples:
· If you're a Financial Advisor you might create a Title Meta Tag such as: "Financial Advisor | Financial Planning | Austin Texas | Smith Wealth Management"
· If you're an Architect focusing on custom home design you might create a Title Meta Tag such as: "Custom Home Design | Architect | Scottsdale Arizona | Smith Architecture and Design"
· If you're a Marketing and PR Firm you might create a Title Meta Tag such as: "Marketing | Public Relations |Phoenix Scottsdale Arizona | Smith Marketing and PR"
Why is getting the Title Meta Tag correct so important?
There is a trend sweeping the country. Phone books are ending up in landfills because people are throwing them away. They are using search engines (namely Google) in the same way they used the phone book in the past.
Title Meta Tags bring traffic to your site, but it's the content on your site that will keep your visitors' attention. This is an entirely different subject that will be covered at another time. What I want for you is to create the right Title Meta Tag so that ideal clients line up on your front doorstep ready to do business with you.
