Drive Traffic to Your Site with Links
One of the
top strategies entrepreneurs can utilize to improve website ranking
is to drive traffic to your site with links from other sites.
That is to say, incoming links. There are companies who will do
this for you for a fee, or you can do it yourself. It’s just
a matter of asking!
Download the Google Toolbar
Before you start, go
to google and type "download goggle toolbar".
Follow the directions. You will utilize the pagerank of the toolbar
to determine if a site is a good link partner for you.
There are
many strategies you can implement to acquire more links:
1 Go to
your competitors’ sites and analyze where their outbound
links are going. You can find a “Links” page on
many sites. More than likely you can request an inbound link
to your
site from
other sites in exchange for an outbound link to their site.
2 Go to http://www.wholinkstome.com and
enter your competitor’s
domain name. This site will tell you how many links are going
to your competitor and where they are coming from. Investigate
each site to
determine if it’s worth it to obtain a link from them.
3 Perform a search on Google for sites that can link to you.
Type into the search bar “add link yourkeyword”.
For example, if you have an interior design business, type
in “add link interior
design”. Many sites will have an “Add link” button.
In certain situations you may have to pay a nominal fee to
add your link. You should determine if it’s worth it.
The best way to figure this out is to check the page rank of
the site. If it is 3 or
above and directly related to your industry, it could be worth
it.
4 Create a free add on http://www.craigslist.org.
Make sure to use your industry’s key words in your ad and
list your full domain name using the http portion of the name.
For example, my site would
be listed as http://www.prosperitycoaching.biz.
This will create a hyperlink in your ad. Even if no one contacts
you from the
ad, you
are creating a link from a high ranking website that will help
your ranking. For best results you should create an ad like
this at least
twice monthly.
5 Get your site added to Google Maps. Go to
http://maps.google.com and
click on “Business Owners: Add/Edit
Your Business”.
Your site will show up on “local business results” with
a map to your physical location and a link to your site.
6 Blog entries: sign each blog entry whether on your site or
on others with your domain name including the entire http
portion.
7 Article writing: every article you write whether
you post it in cyberspace or on your own site should include your
domain name
in
the byline.
Tips
• For best results,
links should be from sites that are related to your industry, although
links from unrelated sites can help also.
•
If your domain name contains the word “design”, links from
other sites with the word “design” will be most beneficial.
•
It’s worth it to pay to add your link if the site is directly
related to your industry and your target clients visit
the site frequently.
• One note of
caution, make sure your site is ready for links. Provide plenty of
key word rich content for your visitors.
