3 Steps to Creating Your Own Reality

We all know people who seem to be in a good mood all the time or who look on the bright side of any situation. They are cheery, self-motivated, and always seem to have a smile on their faces.

On the other hand, we all know people who are no fun to be around because they complain constantly or feel the world is out to get them. They poo-poo any suggestions or help and they seem to almost like being where they are.

Could this be you? Are you constantly looking at your personal situation as being unfortunate or bad luck or do you blame others/situations for not having the success you seek?

 

You could be creating your own reality of failure

 

Here’s a test. In times of stress, when things are not going your way, do you have your own pity party? Do you walk around thinking about how people have wronged you or how things have not gone your way? Do you get depressed, anxious, or regretful and find yourself focusing only on what could go wrong? You could be creating your own situation by remaining stuck in doubt and denial. This kind of behavior is detrimental to your success.

 

Wallowing in fear, anxiety, and blame leads us down a winding path that can be called the “circle of doom.” Once we’re there, we can’t seem to get out.

 

When you find yourself focusing on what’s gone wrong and what else could happen to throw you off your path, you forget that …

 

We create our own reality, whether good or bad

 

Let’s suppose that this is true: your attitude affects your success. How can you use it to your advantage?

 

How to create your positive mindset

 

Step 1 – Stop! When you find yourself focusing on what has gone wrong or you find yourself stuck in anxiety, repeat this phrase: “NAME, you create your own reality!” (Use your own name here. Studies show that using your name in positive self-talk creates more positive outcomes).

Step 2 – Break the cycle! Take 10 deep breaths. No one can stay stuck in anxiety after focusing on deep breathing. It’s impossible. So stop, breath deeply, and count ten breaths.

Step 3 – Reposition! Ask yourself “How can I turn this around?” You’ve been deep in the dark side focusing on the “what if’s” rather than the possibilities. If it’s true that your attitude and actions affect your results, what positive actions can help you break out of this cycle?

 

You may have heard the following: “When we are depressed, we are focusing on the past. When we are anxious, we are focusing on the future.” In order to create the life we want, we have to create our own reality and become intentional with our path in life.
