A Financial Advisor’s Simple Plan for the Best 2019

Print out this Simple Plan and fill in the details below.

2019 is here!

It’s a good time to reflect on how you’ve done and get a good feel for the time and effort you’d like to put into 2019. I always use this time of year for reflection. I thank the powers that be for my success and I envision my life as I want it to be in the coming year. In the work that I do with Financial Advisors, Business Development is important, however, simply thinking and planning for the future are key activities as well.

Financial Advisor’s 2018 in Review

A key activity is reviewing your previous year. I recommend that you take a look at what you’ve accomplished, look at where you are now, figure out if you’re living your best life, and even if you’re playing it too safe. Then, make a plan for the best 2019 and hold yourself accountable to the plan. You’ll notice one commonality about this simple plan: I ask you to name 3 things for each section.

Do a “check in”

In the 14 years I’ve been coaching financial advisors, what I’ve noticed about my most successful clients is that they follow my practice of setting intentions. What is so powerful is that when you put your thoughts to paper (or digitally), you have the ability to “check in” at the end of a year and see what happened.

What are the top 3 things you accomplished in 2018?

How do you usually celebrate? I like to drink champagne, speak aloud to my spouse what I’ve accomplished, and toast to each awesome accomplishment. I recommend that you do what makes you happy. Go to a nice restaurant for dinner and recognize what you’ve achieved. Or talk about it with your spouse while drinking wine and making a nice meal. Whatever works for you!

Financial Advisor’s Plan for 2019

This Simple Plan is not just about creating goals. It’s also about deciding how you want to live your life. If you are running from appointment to appointment and going home late at night, are you really living your best life? I don’t know about you, but my idea of living life to it’s fullest is not about working 60 – 80 hours hours a week and then taking my iPhone on vacation. My example vision may be different from yours. You see I’ve worked very hard for 14 years to get where I’m going. I put in the time and effort to be at the top of my field. I did not settle for being average. I did not settle for “this is good enough.” Now, in this phase of my life, I want my vision to be about imagining my best life and then living it. What about you? What is the vision of your best life?

Think about this: what are your priorities? For example, if your family is your number one priority, in this Simple Plan, prove how you will make it so. What ideal tasks, actions, words, and activities will give your family the attention they deserve?

What are your top 3 priorities in 2019?

Tolerations or Stressors

Life can be hard or it can be fun. Which ever way you decide to go, that’s how it will be. We can DECIDE to let things stress us or we can decide we are going to make life fun. It’s your choice. If you’re tired of being stressed, make a plan to take care of those issues. The first step is identifying what you are tolerating or being stressed about. This can be enlightening!

What are the top 3 things that are stressing you out?

“Make successful habits that create your ideal life” Me (Suzanne Muusers)

Good habits make us successful

There’s no doubt about it! If we are living life by the seat of our pants, going through each day without any direction or plan, then we are not identifying the habits we need to live our best life. What habits can you put into practice that will focus on your PRIORITIES while also ELIMINATING your stressors?

Last year was a defining time period for me. I realized that without good health, nothing else matters! You see, I broke my shoulder May 1st while I was walking my dog. I slipped on a concrete driveway and landed on my shoulder. I knew right away that my shoulder was broken, but a trip to the emergency room with my spouse driving like a madman confirmed it. I opted to avoid surgery and went through months of physical therapy. While doing this, I could not do yoga 5 days a week as was my habit, and it had an effect on my well-being.
